INTERNATIONAL - 21Moon: The Race to Exploit Space
21Moon is a new board game designed in Sweden based on the excellent 18XX train game mechanics. However, instead of taking place in the past, 21Moon is space game where players run corporations that explore and mine critical minerals on the Moon during the year 2117. 18XX games are normally designed to "simulate" the development of railroad lines. 21Moon simulates a prediction of colonisation and mining operations on the Moon in less than 100 years from now. This futuristic theme provides more flexibility regarding the game's graphics design which breaks the norm of old school 18XX games in a respectful way.
Players operate up to seven corporations that have obtained temporary permits to mine valuable minerals on the moon during 11 months before a freight rocket brings back the refined products to Earth. Players win the game by being the most successful investor during this period by collecting dividends and shares in the different corporations. This can be achieved both by collaboration as well as disrupting other players' plans.
21Moon is a perfect information game which means all players have access to all information from the start of the game. No dice roll, hidden cards or random events will happen during game play. The players need to outwit and outmaneuver each other during play to win.
The game follows a fixed round tracker during the permit period which means most games will take between 2,5 and 3,5 hours to complete.
The game can be played by 2 to 5 players and contains a lot of player interaction regardless of number of players. If you like space themed games, train games or perfect information games, this is a game for you.
